Carbohydrates make your blood glucose level go up. If you know how much carbohydrates you’ve eaten, you have a good idea what your blood glucose level is going to do. The more carbohydrates you eat, the higher your blood sugar will go up.
Excessive eating (polyphagia): If the body is able, it will secrete more insulin in order to try to manage the excessive blood sugar levels. With type 2 diabetes, the body resists the action of insulin. One function of insulin is to stimulate hunger. Therefore, higher insulin levels lead to increased hunger. Despite eating more, the diabetic person may gain very little weight and may even lose weight.
If I eat sweets it is a bite or two..unless I give myself a splurge moment. Can do without spiking. I agree that vegs and protein, plus sprouted grain slice of bread once a day works well. I eat quite a lot of fruit by itself, seems to aid the whole process.
And remember not to let others scare you into thinking the worst. Getting educated will help you to understand that a diabetes diagnosis, while serious, is not the end of the world. For some people, lifestyle modifications such as weight loss, healthy eating, and exercise can actually get blood sugars below the diabetes threshold. You can control your diabetes and not let it control you.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors are a class of oral antidiabetic drugs used in type 2 diabetes. SGLT-2 inhibitors work by lowering the renal (kidney) glucose threshold, resulting in an increased amount of glucose being excreted in the urine. These agents are not used first line for type 2 diabetes treatment, but can be combined with other medications.

Polycystic ovary syndrome. For women, having polycystic ovary syndrome — a common condition characterized by irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth and obesity — increases the risk of diabetes.
